Sponsorship
Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their spouse, partner, child, parent and grandparent. Both the sponsor and the applicant must meet certain requirements to apply.
A sponsor must:
- Must be 18 years or older
- You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
- You are not receiving social assistance for reasons other than disability
- You can provide for the basic needs of any persons you want to sponsor
The applicant must:
- For spouses: must be legally married to the sponsor
- For common law: must have been living with the sponsor for a minimum of 12 consecutive months
- For conjugal partners: must have been in a relationship with the sponsor for at least 1 year
- For dependent children: must be related to the sponsor by blood or adoption

Express Entry
Express Entry supplies a route to permanent residence for skilled workers in Canada or overseas.
Federal Skilled Workers- Express Entry
As a Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) you must meet certain criteria to become eligible for an Express Entry.
These requirements include:
- Age
- Education
- Work experience
- Whether you have a valid job offer
- English and/or French language skills
- Adaptability
As a Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) you must meet certain criteria to become eligible for an Express Entry.
These Potential applicants who have met the eligibility requirements will be entered into a pool with other potential applicants and wait for an entry draw. The IRCC will organize a draw and the highest ranked candidates will be invited to apply for Permanent Residency.
Federal Skilled Trades- Express Entry
As a Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) you must meet certain criteria to become eligible for an Express Entry.
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade.
To be eligible you must:
- Meet the required language levels for each language ability
- Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the 5 years before you apply
- Meet the job requirements for that skilled trade
- Have a valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least 1 year or certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority
Canadian Experience Class- Express Entry
The Canadian Experience Class is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and would like to be on a path towards Permanent Residency.
To be eligible you must:
- Meet the required language levels for each language ability
- Have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before you apply
Canadian Citizenship
To apply for Canadian Citizenship you must:
- Be a permanent resident
- Have lived in Canada for 3 out of 5 years
- Have filed your taxes
- Pass a citizenship test
- Prove your language skills
- Born to a Canadian citizen (by descent)
